What do arctic snow terrain, burning desert sand and slippery muddy bogs have in common? Answer: they all make tires lose traction and struggle to move.
Thankfully there is an alternative to the wheeled vehicle – the tracked one. Which is why the ExtremV – a member of the Bronco All Terrain Tracked Carriers (ATTC) makes such good sense. In designing this vehicle, the engineers at ST Engineering upped the ante by innovating a twin-cabin vehicle joined together by an articulated coupling that not only allows for effective transmission of power but allows for pitch, twisting and rolling between the two cabins, making movement over extremely uneven terrain possible and efficient. The driver can even steer the vehicle around tight confined environments such as forested land and mount sharp inclines and slopes in terrain such as that found in the Alps with ease.
The two-cabin design also opens up a world of possibilities in terms of mission modules. From logistics support to emergency evacuation; fire-fighting to flood relief efforts. This workhorse can take on any challenge once equipped with the appropriate payload.
Here are some interesting facts about this fearless workhorse:
Interesting fact #1: Extremely Versatile Vehicle
Did you know that due to its modular design, the back cabin of the ExtremV can be swapped out easily and replaced with the relevant payload – an ambulance in the case of the medical variant, or water jet if deployed as fire engine. This gives users the versatility to own a single platform with multiple applications, making it the natural choice as a Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) support vehicle.
Interesting fact #2: War Hero
Did you know that the Warthog, a variant that shares the same lineage as the ExtremV All Terrain Tracked Carrier, has been battle-proven in extreme desert conditions? It was deployed by the British Army in 2009 to Afghanistan, clocking in more than 300,000 miles in theatre over four years, and encountering some 30 IED attacks. Most significantly, the platform was credited with achieving zero fatalities during its time in active duty.
Interesting fact #3: Conquers more than 80% of the world’s terrain
Did you know that the ExtremV All Terrain Tracked Carrier is able to conquer over 80% of the world’s terrain under adverse conditions? Specially designed heavy duty rubber tracks ensure low ground pressure and superior mobility, running at speeds up to 60kmh on land. And if the vehicle should wade into deep water – no worries, it swims too.
